Fernbank Museum Celebrates the “Dinosaur King” in its Newest Film

“T. REX” premieres June 21 in the Giant Screen Theater.

ATLANTA, GA, May 14, 2024 — Audiences will be enthralled when Fernbank Museum’s newest film, “T. REX,” stomps into the Giant Screen Theater in 3D for its world debut on June 21. Boasting an impressive mix of real scientific expeditions with dinosaur animation using captivating CGI imagery, this family-friendly film aims to prove that Tyrannosaurus rex is still the king of them all.

Audiences will travel from the forests and wetlands of New Zealand and Florida to the buttes and badlands of Montana and North Dakota to learn about the T. rexand its fellow dinosaurs in this new film.

“We’re eager to bring the G.O.A.T. — the Greatest Of All Tyrants — back to life in fun and surprising ways,” said director David Clark. “The film will cover a lot of new territory while delivering on the quintessential promises of a T. rexcinematic experience — the dinky arms, super senses, rex-on-rex fights, pack hunts, baby ‘rexlings’, a climactic face-off with a three-horned nemesis, giant pterosaurs, the extinction cataclysm, and much, much more.”

In T. REX, audiences will witness a groundbreaking paleontological discovery on the giant screen, as well as references to famous specimens, other landmark discoveries and wild cinematic depictions to reimagine the look of this ultimate predator.

“We never could have planned what we fortuitously captured — an extraordinary and inspiring story poised to make global headlines,” said writer and producer Andy Wood. “It’s a feel-good narrative, impossible to script, taking this immersive movie to new heights.”

Guests will leave T. REX with a new understanding of the creature, from "rexling" to teen rex to adult predator, celebrating the status of the perennially popular A-list dinosaur that is the Tyrannosaurus rex.
