Fernbank’s volunteer program is an opportunity for adults of all ages to be directly involved in museum operations, interpretation and more. Adult volunteers must commit to 50 hours of service annually. In order to be eligible, volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, complete an application, attend a required orientation and training session and submit to a background check.

Ensure that each guest feels welcome and has the best experience possible. In these roles, volunteers orient guests to the museum, check tickets and provide a friendly face to answer any questions.
Available Roles: Guest Engagement, Lobby Ambassador, Intercept Survey and Information Table.
Engaging and inspiring guests of all ages to learn about our exhibits and collections. Additional training is required for these opportunities.
Available Roles: A Walk Through Time in Georgia, Fantastic Forces and Interpretive Carts.
Educating guests of all ages by assisting with our diverse educational programming.
Available Roles: STEAM Lab, On-Site Public Programs and On-Site School Programs.
These roles provide a more involved opportunity for our volunteers. Additional training may be required for these opportunities.
Available Roles: Forest Restoration and Live Animal Care.
Additional opportunities for adult volunteers are available, including supporting educational programs, assisting with live animal care, facilitating special events, performing light office work and more.
