Home-schooled Opportunities

Fernbank Museum recognizes the unique nature of home-schooled groups and is pleased to be able to offer the following options based on group size. All groups, regardless of size, are encouraged to take advantage of special field trip pricing.

Field Trips

Less than 10 students
This option is best suited for home-schoolers visiting as a family or a small group of less than 10 students. Explore the museum’s permanent and special exhibits at your own pace, see a movie in the Giant Screen Theater* and enjoy a special discount on student tickets. Smaller homeschool groups are invited to participate in daily drop-in programs including live science shows, animal encounters and more.

Cost: Standard field trips rates apply for students and regular nongroup prices apply for adults. Prices valid for groups of less than 10 students. Home schools must present a State Letter of Intent to qualify for reduced educational rates.

More than 10 students
This option is best suited for large homeschool groups with 10 or more students. Explore the Museum’s permanent and special exhibitions at your own pace, see a movie in the Giant Screen Theater* and enjoy a special discount on both student and adult tickets.

Cost: Standard field trips rates apply for students. One chaperone for every 10 students receives free admission. Regular group prices apply for additional adults. Prices valid for groups of 10 or more students. Reduced pricing valid with 48-hour advance reservations only. Homeschools must present a State Letter of Intent to qualify for reduced educational rates.

Field Trip Programs

Enhance your on-site field trip experience with a unique school program taught by Fernbank educators. Programs are available for grades K-12, correlated to Georgia Performance Standards and last 30 to 60 minutes.

Virtual School Programs

Experience Fernbank’s education programming without leaving your home or classroom. Through Zoom and Fernbank Online, Fernbank educators use active discussion, fun visuals, live specimens and unique artifacts to engage students through virtual programming. All programs are correlated with Georgia Standards of Excellence and last 30 to 60 minutes.
