Dec. 22 - 23 and Dec. 29 - Jan. 2
Campers, escape the cold at Fernbank! Campers ages 5-10 will embark on an adventure that dives deep beneath the waves. Participants will travel back in time to uncover the wonders of underwater archaeology and the mysteries behind myths and legends of the sea. Along the way, campers will experience winter celebrations from around the world, explore the planet’s oceans and meet the amazing animals that call those oceans home. Education and fun will take place through playing games, creating crafts, and learning with exciting, hands-on activities centered around the theme of each day.
Themes Include:
Oceans: Campers will explore everything from the deep, dark depths of the sea to colorful coral reefs during this scientific exploration of our blue planet. Activities may include journeying through the water cycle as a drop of ocean water, crafting creatures of the deep (like the Atolla jellyfish), and learning about endangered species and what we can do to help them.
Arctic and Antarctic Animals: How do animals thrive in subzero temperatures? Through adaptations! Campers will learn about the adaptations of arctic swimmers, walkers and waddlers. Activities may include narwhal sock puppet, playing with blubber and more.
