Things to Do at Fernbank in November

You will not be-leaf all the fun things we have going on this month!

Fall color has arrived at Fernbank, and the best way to experience the season is by exploring WildWoods and Fernbank Forest. You don’t have to drive north to enjoy these fall colors; our backyard comes alive with dramatic yellows and oranges as the leaves change. Our old-growth forest is also filled with native plants and wildlife, including a variety of native birds. Join us for our first Intro to Birding Workshop on Nov. 7. Guests will learn to identify commonly spotted bird species native to the Georgia Piedmont before practicing these new skills on a birding tour through Wildwoods. Perfect for the whole family!

Our Giant Screen Theater is hosting a variety of films this month, including the world premiere of American Amazon. This brand-new documentary sends viewers across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and the Carolinas to discover the untold stories, hidden biodiversity, and rare beauty of North America’s last unseen wilderness. But that's not all! We will be hosting National Geographic Photographer Mac Stone and filmmaker Eric Bendick for a special lecture that delves into the visual journey the film captures. This free lecture will be held on November 15; RSVP today.

Want to experience the museum after dark? We've got options! Fernbank After Dark: Amazing Animals on Friday, Nov. 13 is a hands-on, adults-only science night dedicated to some of our favorite animals. We're also keeping our doors open late for two nights, so you and your friends and family can enjoy the lights of Winter Wonderland at night, witness the seasonal glow-up of Giganotosaurus and Argentinosaurus, experience stress-free holiday shopping in the Museum Store, and make memories throughout the full museum.  

For more family-friendly fun, join us on November 14 for Adventures in Science. Step into the role of a scientist and participate in experiments all around the museum. Our hypothesis is that you will have so much fun and make memories that will last a lifetime. Want to test the theory?
