For Educators:

As the school year ramps up, Fernbank offers a wide range of enriching opportunities for students and educators.

Our field trip programs are designed for elementary through high school students and include interactive presentations for large groups, hands-on investigations for small groups, guided nature walks, and more. These experiences go beyond the classroom by incorporating interactive elements and demonstrations that deepen students’ understanding of key scientific concepts. Each program is aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence and tailored to specific grade levels for maximum impact.

Fernbank is dedicated to making science accessible to all learners. We proudly support all Georgia public schools through initiatives like Museum Access Scholarships and CORE – a free program offered to partner Title I schools in the community. These efforts help provide meaningful educational experiences for underserved students across the state. 

In the fall and spring, we host educator preview days and special events where teachers can experience our programming firsthand. These events include live demonstrations, film screenings, presentations about our school programming, and time to explore the museum. Be sure to check our calendar of events for upcoming events.

For Students:

Fernbank isn’t just for field trips—students of all ages can enjoy a variety of programs year-round.

Our daily programming, which includes animal encounters, story time, and dino talks, is fun and educational for everyone. Additionally, we host special lectures and workshops in collaboration with academic partners, exploring exciting science and technology topics throughout the year. Lectures are often free with RSVP, and workshop pricing may vary. Be sure to check our calendar  for upcoming events. 

 

For Adults:

Looking for a fun way to unwind, connect with others, and learn something new before summer ends and throughout the year?  Don’t miss Fernbank After Dark, held on the second Friday of each month, featuring themed cocktails, live music, hands-on activities, and after-hours access—all for guests 21+.

For Families: 

Squeeze in one more adventure before the school year kicks off! Fernbank offers fun experiences the whole family can enjoy.

Join us for Discovery Days, which feature hands-on activities that explore fascinating topics in science and nature. Don’t miss our upcoming Reptile Day—it’s just around the corner on Aug. 28! 

Also, don’t miss Fernbank...but LATER—we are open after dark for chill museum nights that all ages can enjoy. Enjoy a laid-back evening with games, food, drinks, music and full museum access. Mark your calendar for our next event on August 22.

 

For the Community:

Can’t make it to Fernbank? Let us come to you! Our Fernbank on the GO! van travels to festivals and community events throughout the year, including favorites like the Atlanta Science Festival. Interested in bringing Fernbank to your event? Reach out to Education@FernbankMuseum.org.

We’re also excited to offer new traveling exhibits 3 times a year, Sensory Mornings for guests with accessibility needs, and a growing calendar of events and programs designed to make science engaging for everyone.
