Fernbank Museum is gearing up with the rest of the city for the annual Atlanta Science Festival. Hosted by Science ATL, the Atlanta Science Festival is a yearly celebration of world-class learning and STEM career opportunities. During the festival’s two-week run, science institutions and professionals around the city host programs and events for the public. These events run the gamut from formal lectures to big, hands-on experiments and cover any and every subject in the scientific field.
Because Science ATL and Fernbank Museum share the goal of inspiring people through science, we have been a partner and a participant in the festival since its inception in 2013. Each year, Fernbank hosts three to four events for the public to enjoy.
This year, we’re featuring guided hikes in Fernbank Forest - Atlanta’s largest old-growth forest – on March 15 and March 21 to find rare wildflowers not often seen in the area. We will also host two workshops investigating the science of animal biology, Turtle Quest on March 8 and Living Wild on March 15. Both workshops are appropriate for families with children in middle school or younger. Can’t make one of these events? Fernbank offers year-round science, nature and culture events. Find your next favorite in our Calendar of Events.
The culmination of the two-week festival is the Atlanta Science Festival Expo, which takes place in Piedmont Park on Saturday, March 22. This event is free and open to the public, and as always, Fernbank will be in attendance with our Fernbank on the Go! mobile museum experience. Make sure to stop by!
If you’re not planning to attend the Atlanta Science Festival, you can still visit Fernbank Museum 363 days a year. Get inspired by science year-round with our engaging and interactive exhibits, immersive giant screen films and fun, free daily programs.
