Looking for things to do around Atlanta before summer is out? Fernbank offers plenty to do and this summer, a night at the museum is one of them. Discover 5 reasons to visit Fernbank Museum’s after-hour special events!
1. Adult-Only Events:
On the second Friday of each month, Fernbank hosts exclusive adults-only nights.
Fernbank After Dark is a 21+ event that allows guests to let loose and have fun during a night curated specifically to grown up science and fun.
On Friday, August 9, 2024 from 7-11 p.m., guests are invited to unleash their inner brain power, explore their senses, and put them to the ultimate test during “Fernbank After Dark: Sense-ational Science.”
The event will have various sensory activities and interactive experiments to enjoy such as: discovering magic berries, sound tuning forks, a mystery box, eye illusions and so much more.

2. Specially Curated After-Hour Events for all ages
Add Dinosaurs and FUN to your summer bucket list! Fernbank...but Later is the perfect place to explore the museum after-hours with your friends and family. Not only will the whole museum be open to explore, but there will be hands-on science experiments and activities to enjoy.
Our next Fernbank...but Later event, “Fossil Friday” is on Friday, August 30, 2024, featuring a night filled with dinosaurs, fossils, science experiments and more.
BONUS: Snacks, sodas and cocktails will be available to purchase! Have one last hurrah before summer turns to fall.

3. Special Exhibits – Later Hours
Special Exhibit: A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature
Explore the largest mirror maze in Atlanta, GA at our special exhibit, A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature. Dive into the world of mathematical patterns that surround us in the natural world. The mirror maze is approximately 1,700 square feet and is fully immersive. After this exhibit you won’t look at the world the same way again.
Special Exhibit: Forest Forms
See Forest Forms in WildWoods at night. Pose for a selfie or two in front of larger-than-life artistic sculptures that represent the wildlife that is often found in forests. These sculptures range from 5-20 feet tall and feature foxes, flowers, a snake archway and more.
4. Music, Food and Drinks!
Our after-hour events feature great tunes, delicious foods and refreshing drinks!
At Fernbank After Dark, local musical artists come to play electrifying music to enjoy while you explore the museum. Our artist lineups vary in genres ranging from jazz, soul to rock and roll.
On other nights, including Fernbank...but Later, we offer a curated playlist on our sound system to provide the perfect tunes for your adventure.
A variety of appetizers and themed cocktails are available for purchase at all after-hour events.
