Guest Operations Associate

Position Summary:

The Guest Operations Associate is responsible for providing multi department support in all/ various guest facing functions including: scanning tickets, processing sales transactions, seating the Giant Screen Theater movies, greeting arriving guests, directing the flow of crowds, and leading guest birthday parties.  This position will focus on elevating the guest experience.

Major Functions:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure excellent guest experiences
  • Scan tickets at the Ticketing counter and at Theater
  • Assist with seating guests in the Giant Screen Theater
  • Process sales transactions in the Café and Museum Store
  • On site coordination of birthday parties including greeting clients in the lobby, escorting them to the private party room, delivering food and re-setting room between parties
  • Provide general Museum support
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Museum’s current exhibits, movies and programming
  • Provide accurate, professional and courteous customer service
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work 15-20 hours per week

Museum Store Sales Associate

Job description
Job Summary: Responsible for the timely processing of all sales in an efficient and friendly manner. Contributes to the efficiency of daily operations and the creation of the proper atmosphere for a successful and profitable store.

Major Functions:

  • Provide excellent customer service by demonstrating friendly and helpful service to all visitors and employees.
  • Operate a cash register, processing all sales transactions quickly and accurately and resolve register related problems in a timely manner.
  • Open and close the Store(s), including making daily deposits and reports.
  • Be knowledgeable about all items sold in the Store(s) as well as general museum information.
  • Maintain proper merchandise display, store cleanliness, and adequate stock on hand
  • Aid in keeping store management informed as to merchandise and supply needs.
  • Assist with receiving orders including counting, tagging and stocking merchandise on the Store(s) floor and helping to organize backstock in the Stock Rooms.
  • Help with taking physical inventory
  • Perform all other store related functions as needed and other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Some college preferred
  • Cash handling experience
  • Customer service experience

Skills and Attributes:
Able to maintain a positive and friendly attitude to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced museum retail environment. Cash register experience preferred.

Security Officer, Part-Time

This position is under the direct supervision of the Security Chief, Assistant Manager of Security and when appropriate, the Security Shift Supervisor. As a member of the Security Department, this individual is responsible for the protection, safeguarding and security of all Fernbank Museum of Natural History guests, patrons, staff, volunteers, collections and assets. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.
Essential Functions

  • Enforces all security and safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining any and all security department equipment including but not limited to: security systems and alarms, keys, magnetic coded access system.

  • Protects all FMNH property from theft, vandalism, fire and accidents within reason.
  • Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and any and all other security related situations.
  • Provides any needed assistance to visitors, employees, volunteers and patrons with following the department's procedures.

Weekend Lead Sales Associate

Job Summary:

Perform all duties of Museum Store Cashier (which include running the cash register, restocking merchandise, customer service, product knowledge, opening and closing the Store), this position is responsible for supporting all aspects related to the daily operation of the Museum Store and additional duties as assigned by the Museum Store Buyer/Manager.

Major Functions:

  • Responsible for the restocking of supplies and equipment needed to efficiently run the Store floor on a daily basis: report shortages to Museum Store Buyer/Manager.
  • Keep stock rooms neat and organized at all times.
  • Making merchandising decisions for product placement
  • All other duties expected of a Museum Store Cashier, as listed below:
  • Process all sales transactions quickly and accurately
  • Provide friendly, helpful service with good communication skills to all visitors
  • Be knowledgeable about all items sold in the Store
  • Resolve register related problems
  • Work closely with all Store staff and volunteers to ensure maintenance of visitor service standards
  • Open and close the Store, including making daily deposits and reports
  • Maintain proper merchandise levels, Store cleanliness and adequate
  • stock on hand.
  • Aid in keeping Store management informed as to merchandise and supply needs
