2025 Summer Camps

Explore a world of science and nature with Fernbank’s Summer Camps for ages 5-12. Your camper will discover how the brain links our bodies to our senses, raise caterpillars, and dig into the past to explore dinosaurs with this exciting camp experience! Under the guidance of Fernbank educators, campers will perform experiments, play games and more.

Registration Dates: Registration opens for members on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 at Noon EST.
Registration for non-members will open on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025 at Noon EST.

Camper Age Groups: All campers must be at least 5 years of age by the time of their camp session. Day camp groups are divided into ages 5 - 7 and ages 8 - 10. Ranger Camp is for ages 10 - 12.

Cost: $330 for members; $380 for non-members.

Hours: Fernbank’s Summer Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Extended Care: Extended care is available as early as 8:15 a.m. and as late as 5:30 p.m. each week. Extended care is $100 for the week. Single-day extended care rates are not available.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: All registrations include a $50 non-refundable fee.  Cancellations made before May 19, 2025, will receive a refund, excluding the $50 non-refundable fee. After May 19, 2025, no refunds will be issued.

If minimum enrollment is not met, we reserve the right to cancel a camp session and issue a full refund.

There are no partial refunds for missed camp days.

Day Camp (Ages 5 - 10)

Camps include games, activities and crafts centered around the theme of each day. Summer 2024 Day-Camp Themes for ages 5-10 may include: 

• Engineering: Campers will become junior engineers! Campers will explore like real inventors, in a day packed with hands-on projects and fun challenges. Activities may include building bridges, robots and wild contraptions.
• Turtles: Dive into a shell-tastic adventure during Turtles Day! Campers will explore the world of turtles through hands-on crafts. Campers will learn how these awesome creatures live, swim, and protect our oceans. Activities may include exploring turtle life cycles, turtle suncatchers and more.
• Body Systems: Explore the amazing science of body systems. From pumping hearts to wigglin' toes, campers will uncover the systems that keep living things moving and growing. Activities may include a skeletal hand craft and a body systems matching game.
• Archaeology: Unearth the past on Archaeology Day! Campers will become junior archaeologists as they dig through history, decode mysterious artifacts, and explore how people lived long ago.
• Paleontology: Campers will discover Paleontology. Activities may include digging for fossils and exploring the Giants of the Mesozoic.

Specific activities are subject to change without notice.

Dates: Themes repeat weekly between June 2 and July 25, so we encourage you to select the week that best meets your summer needs.

Ranger Camp (Ages 10 - 12)

Campers will develop their skills as a naturalist with Ranger Camp. With Fernbank’s 65-acre old-growth forest as their guide, campers will discover the geology, biodiversity, and incredible ecology of the Piedmont Forest. Activities will take place primarily in Fernbank’s outdoor areas.
