2023 Summer Camp

Explore a world of science and nature with Fernbank’s summer day camps for ages 5-13. Your camper will discover how the brain links our bodies to our senses, raise caterpillars, and dig into the past and explore dinosaurs with this camp. Alongside Fernbank educators, campers will perform experiments, play games, and more.

Registration Dates: Registration opens for members on Monday, Feb. 6 at noon.  Registration for non-members will open on Monday, Feb. 13 at noon. 

Cost: $300 for members; $350 for non-members. Price is prorated for the week of July 4th, as camp that week will be Wednesday through Friday.

Hours: Fernbank’s Summer Camp runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Pre-Care: Pre-Care is available from 8:15 am to 9:00am and costs $5 per day or $20 for the week. Only full-week Pre-Care registration is available online. Single-day Pre-Care registration will be available on-site during camp.

After-Care: After-Care is available from 4:00pm to 5:30pm and costs $10 per day or $40 for the week. Only full-week After-Care registration is available online. Single-day After-Care registration will be available on-site during camp.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: After May 19 , 2023, no refunds will be issued. A $50 non-refundable administrative fee will be charged for all cancellations.

If minimum enrollment is not met, we reserve the right to cancel a camp session and issue a full refund.

Refunds will not be given for campers who miss camp days due to illness, including COVID.

Camper Age Groups: IMPORTANT: all campers must be at least 5 years of age by the time of their camp session to attend Fernbank Summer Camp.  Day Camp groups are divided into grades K-2 and grades 3-5. Ranger Camp is grouped as grades 5-6.

Day Camp (Rising K-5th Grade)

Camps include games, activities, and crafts centered around the theme of each day. Summer 2023 day camp themes for Grades K-5 may include: 

  • Ecology Day: Campers will become junior ecologists and study the relationship between living organisms and the environment! Activities may include a walk in Fernbank Forest and soil sampling.
  • Survival of the Slowest Day: Learn how the slow survive! Campers will explore the overlooked species that have used their disadvantages to help them survive.
  • Paleontology Day: Campers will discover Paleontology. Activities may include digging for fossils and exploring the Giants Mesozoic.

Specific activities are subject to change without notice.

Dates: Themes repeat weekly between June 5 and July 28, so select the week that best meets your summer needs.

Ranger Camp (Rising 5th-6th Grade)

Campers will develop their skills as a naturalist with Ranger Camp. With Fernbank’s 65-acre old-growth forest as their guide, campers will discover the geology, biodiversity, and incredible ecology of the piedmont. Activities take place primarily in Fernbank’s outdoor areas.
