Fernbank is heating up to go into full summer mode this May! From exciting films to after-hours explorations, there’s something for everyone to do this month.
LAST CALL FOR CRITTERS — There are only a few more days until Spiders — From Fear to Fascination closes on May 5, and you don’t want to miss this chance to see 250 live and preserved spiders, as well as fun, immersive digital elements! Learn more about the exhibit here.
TAKE A HIKE — Morning bird? You’re in luck! There are two morning hikes through Fernbank Forest this month. You can join an educator from 9 – 11 a.m. on May 10 or May 19 and learn about topics that vary from birding, tree identification, wildflowers and more.
NIGHTS AT THE MUSEUM — Not only is there Fernbank After Dark: Carnival Science on May 10, but we’re also unveiling a new after-hours event, Fernbank... but Later! Join us for the first installment in this summer series when Fernbank... but Later: Weird Science happens on May 31.
A QUIETER ENVIRONMENT — Enjoy Fernbank an hour earlier on May 5 for a Sensory Morning designed for guests with sensory sensitivities or special needs who might benefit from a less-crowded environment. Explore the museum and WildWoods in a quieter state and watch a sensory-friendly film in the Giant Screen Theater. Learn more about Sensory Mornings here.
SUPERHUMAN SHOWING — The Giant Screen Theater’s newest film, Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels, narrated by Academy-Award winner Matthew McConaughey, details all the innovative ways science and technology are helping humans live better lives. Once you see this film, you’ll want another taste of STEAM, and we’ve got the ideas just for you.
