“Superhuman Body” combines live-action cinematography with state-of-the-art CGI to show the innerworkings of the human body and the use of science to intervene when something goes awry. Audiences will learn about real-life medical innovations that changed the lives of individuals like Ty Duckett, an adaptive surfer with an above-the-knee amputation; James Garrett, whose heart condition was treated with a valve so advanced it didn’t require open-heart surgery; and Emily Whitehead, a teen whose childhood leukemia was cured after life-changing T-cell therapy.

“‘Superhuman Body’ is about the awe-inspiring workings of the human body but also the compelling human stories behind some of the most significant medical breakthroughs of the past decade,” said producer and co-director Shaun MacGillivray, President of MacGillivray Freeman Films. “We hope the film inspires students of all ages to get excited about science and STEM careers.”

This film also highlights the scientists and their research behind these medical innovations. Two scientists that are showcased in “Superhuman Body” are Dr. Carl June, who invented the T-cell therapy Whitehead underwent, and Dr. Ayanna Howard, a pioneering roboticist whose robots that are used in the medical field to help children with disabilities.

As audiences watch “Superhuman Body,” they will develop a newfound appreciation for the STEM field. An inspirational film about people getting second chances because of these medical advancements, “Superhuman Body” will inspire the next generation of researchers, doctors and bioengineers and get guests excited about science.
