Get to Know the Board of Trustees Behind Fernbank Museum

As Fernbank Museum prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in October 2022, the organization continues to reach new heights in bringing unique science and nature experiences for its guests and community.

“As we look ahead from the midway point of the year, we are steadfast in Fernbank’s mission to ignite a passion for science, nature and human culture through exploration and discovery,” said Fernbank President and CEO, Jennifer Grant Warner

Across its 120-acre science education campus and through signature outreach programs, Fernbank is collectively known for its exciting museum exhibitions, the Giant Screen Theater, and its outdoor nature experiences in WildWoods and Fernbank Forest.

For this anniversary year, Fernbank is excited to announce its 2022 Officers and most recent Board additions, who are part of the governing Board responsible for stewarding the organization. Officers for 2022:

Chair: Sean Richards, Partner, Ernst & Young

Vice Chair: Wab Kadaba, Partner and Chair, Intellectual Property Department, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton

Treasurer: Erin Weis, Assurance Partner, PwC 

Secretary: Farah Cook, Partner, Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton

Immediate Past Chair: Caryl Greenberg Smith, Partner, Hunton Andrews Kurth

 Board members joining, with six trustees elected to the Board in 2021 include Philipp Biechteler, Liz Broadway Brown, Christopher Courts, Rakhee Parikh, Shannon Pierce, and Aaron Ribner.

"We are excited to have the leadership of our newly elected board members, particularly at this pivotal time for Fernbank,” Warner said. “As we anticipate the celebration of the Museum’s 30th anniversary, their guidance will strengthen our continued commitment to provide dynamic programming as Atlanta’s science and nature experience.”

Philipp Biechteler is a Vice President and banker in the Atlanta office of J.P. Morgan Private Bank. In this role, he is responsible for delivering advice, strategies and services across investments, wealth planning and much more. He prioritizes involvement in his professional pursuits and his local community.

Elizabeth “Liz” Broadway Brown is a business and commercial litigator, primarily for the health care, technology and financial services industries. Some of her accolades include being named one of The National Black Lawyers’ “Top 40 Under 40” in Georgia in 2015 and 2016 and being listed in The Best Lawyers in America© in the area of Mass Tort Litigation / Class Actions – Defendants for 2021. Liz is the former president of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys..

Christopher Courts is a member of Novelis’ Executive Committee and is responsible for leading the global legal and compliance functions. He has served as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Compliance Officer during his term at Novelis, where he joined in 2005. Prior to joining the Board of Trustees, Chris was a member of Fernbank’s Corporate Leadership Council.

Boasting a passion for both professional and community leadership, Rakhee V. Parikh has served on the marketing and sales team for Sanofi since 2002, where she has been praised for. her work in diabetes pharmaceuticals.

Shannon Pierce is Vice President, Growth and Chief External Affairs Officer at SouthStar Energy Services. A leader in her company, Pierce has held roles on numerous councils and internal groups in legal, external affairs and utility operations for University of Virginia’s alumni association.

Aaron Ribner is the Chief Executive Officer at Romanoff Renovations, a nationwide provider of construction services to large retail clients. He began there as the VP of Operations after a successful career with Home Depot.
