Frequently Asked Questions

A. Timed ticketing allows guests to select a specific date and time slot for their visit, which allows us to control capacity each hour to keep guests safe.

You must enter during your specific session but you can stay as long as you’d like until we close. Timed tickets are available from 10am to 3pm (last entry at 4pm). ALL guests (members and non-members) must reserve their tickets in advance (except CityPASS—see below). Your hourly admission ticket allows you to arrive any time during the hour of the ticket window you choose but you can stay on site beyond that first hour. (For example, if you choose 10am, you can arrive any time between 10am and 10:59am and your visit can continue beyond that hour.)

Reserved tickets must be scanned at the box office for entry. Please present your printed tickets or pull up your electronic ticket bar code(s) upon arrival.

A: CityPASS admission is considered pre-reserved so guests should present their CityPASS mobile ticket for scanning at the box office when they arrive. No separate reservation is required but your pass must be scanned for entry. Learn more about saving 45% off admission with Atlanta CityPASS.

A. Members should reserve timed tickets. A daily allotment of tickets is reserved for members and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because we have limited capacities, attendance cannot be guaranteed if tickets are not reserved in advance.

Many times and dates sell out in advance and we cannot add more tickets to accommodate members without a reservation.

A. Face coverings are recommended.

A. Yes, you may purchase face coverings at the box office.

A. If you are a member and cannot attend during the date or time of your reservation, please cancel your reservation to allow your unused ticket(s) to be available for other members.

If you are not a member, you can transfer your ticket to another date by calling 404.929.6400. A transfer fee may apply. There are no refunds.

A. Weekday afternoons from 2pm – 5pm are the best times to visit. Purchase tickets for the 2pm or 3pm ticket time slot for access to off-peak hours. (excluding holidays)

A. No, movies can only be added to General Admission and cannot be purchased separately.

A: You can join online from anywhere, but it's best to join or renew before you arrive at Fernbank. Memberships are active immediately. Members are required to reserve tickets in advance so waiting until you arrive does not guarantee tickets will be available.

A: If this is your first time buying online tickets, you will need to register your account. To help with this process, we have created an informative member registration video as well as these written step-by-step instructions. Please make sure all adults and caregivers are aware of this policy.  In order to receive free admission tickets, reservations must be made under the primary member’s name.   

A: All major experiences are open with the Giant Screen Theater being open daily through September 6, 2021. Please note that some exhibits have limited capacities and water fountains may remain temporarily unavailable. Please visit our Calendar of Events for more information on special activities available on the date of your visit.

A: Fernbank has implemented enhanced protocols to keep guests safe during their visit. This includes timed ticketing, capacity limitations, contactless and cashless transactions, one-way paths in high-traffic areas, increased cleaning procedures, recommended face coverings, new hand sanitation stations throughout the campus and much more.

A: Make an advanced reservation using Fernbank's new timed ticketing system (applies to members and guests). Please print tickets or have them ready to scan from your mobile device. No outside food or drink will be permitted and there will be no re-entry. If you need a stroller, you may bring it, but please also bring your patience for the elevator, especially on weekends, holidays and school breaks. Please bring a credit or debit card for all purchases. We are a cash-less facility.

A: Gift tickets will need to be redeemed in person at the Box Office, and therefore, do not require a reservation.

A: As part of our low-contact operations model, we have created a digital mobile map, designed to be easily viewed on your mobile device. Paper maps will only be available upon request at the box office.

A: The Fernbank Café and Museum Store are available for light fare (sandwiches, pizza, snacks, drinks, etc.) and shopping (souvenirs, plush toys, dinosaur merchandise, games, books, fossils, etc.). Seating is availble inside the café and on the outdoor terrace. We accept credit or debit cards only. We do not accept cash.

A: You can give to Fernbank's COVID-19 Recovery Fund. Your thoughtful support will also help us continue important initiatives, such as afterschool and outdoor programs for underserved communities, care of our live animal collection, special exhibitions, special programming and more, so Fernbank's World of WOW is available for all audiences.
