Q: What is timed ticketing?

A. Timed ticketing allows guests to select a specific date and time slot for their visit. You will only be allowed entry for your specific session. Timed tickets are available from 10am to 3pm (last entry at 4pm). ALL guests (members and non-members) must reserve their tickets in advance. Your hourly admission ticket allows you to arrive during the ticket window you choose at the time of purchase. You must arrive within this hour to ensureample room for physicaldistancing.  Friday and Saturday evening timed tickets are available for entry at 5:30pm and 6:30pm (last entry at 7:30pm). 

Q: Are face coverings required?

A. As a science-based organization, Fernbank requires all guests ages two and older wear face coverings in certain areas, including: the museum entrance, check-in stations, indoor exhibits, elevators, restrooms, as well as when ordering at Café and Store, unless not advised due to a medical condition as outlined by the CDC.

With 75 acres of outdoor explorations allowing for increased physical distancing, face coverings may be less necessary outside when distanced from other guests or staff. However, any time physical distancing is not possible--including when passing others on paths--face coverings must be worn.

If you have a medical condition that does not allow you wear a face covering, please notify a staff member so that we can provide a wristband that alerts us that you’ve been appropriately cleared to enter without a face covering. If you are not able to wear a face covering, we ask you to maintain physical distance from other guests and staff.

Q: What do I do if I don’t have a face covering?

A. If you do not have a face covering, we’ll have them available for purchase onsite.

Q: What if I miss my time slot?

A. Tickets are non-refundable; however, you can transfer your ticket to another date by calling 404.929.6400. 

Q: Are walk-up tickets available at the Box Office?

A. Walk-up tickets are not available until further notice. All tickets must be purchased online in advance of your visit. You will receive an electronic ticket to present upon arriving at the museum for a low-contact check-in process. Online purchase fees have been eliminated.

Q: Can I purchase a membership or convert my tickets to a membership during my visit?

A: You can join online from anywhere, but it's best to join or renew before you arrive at Fernbank. Memberships are active immediately. Members are required to reserve tickets in advance so waiting until you arrive does not guarantee tickets will be available. If you'd like to convert your tickets to a membership, please call 404.929.6340 or email Membership@FernbankMuseum.org.

Q: Do members have to buy timed tickets?

A. Members will need to reserve timed tickets at no charge. A daily allotment of tickets is reserved for members and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Q: How do I register my membership account online?

A. If this is your first time buying online tickets, you will need to register your accountTo help with this process, we have created an informative member registration video as well as these written step-by-step instructions. Please make sure all adults and caregivers are aware of this policy.  In order to receive free admission tickets, reservations must be made under the primary member’s name.   

Q: Will you be offering discounts due to closed exhibits?

A. For the safety and health of our staff and visitors, we are limiting the number of guests into Fernbank at any one time and any areas that are not available are for your safety. With most areas available to enjoy and for the financial health of Fernbank, we are not able to reduce the cost of admission.

Q: Will you be accepting group reservations?

A. We are currently not accepting group reservations. Contact us at Group.Visits@FernbankMuseum.org to receive a notice when group reservations resume.

Q: What steps are you taking to keep guests safe?

A. Fernbank is taking a number of steps and implementing many enhanced protocols to keep guests safe during their visit. This includes timed ticketing, capacity limitations, contactless and cashless transactions, one-way paths in high-traffic areas, increased cleaning procedures, new hand sanitation stations throughout the campus and much more. Q: How should I prepare for my visit to Fernbank?

A. Make an advanced reservation using Fernbank's new timed ticketing system. Please print tickets or have them ready to scan from your mobile device. No outside food or drink will be permitted and there will be no re-entry. Wear a face covering. If you do not have one, we'll have them available for purchase. Finally, Fernbank asks guests to leave strollers at home, if possible, to reserve the elevator for guests who require it for physical need.

Q: Will my membership be extended due to the closure?

A. Fernbank has automatically extended memberships for the affected time on your membership equal to the time Fernbank was closed. If you renewed your membership during the closure, your membership has also been extended. 

Q: Will I be able to redeem admission pass(es) that expired while the museum was closed?

A. Museum passes that expired during the museum's closure will be extended for the amount of time the museum was closed. For example, if a pass expired March 31, the expiration date will be extended to June 30.

Q: Can I redeem a gift ticket online?

A. Gift tickets will need to be redeemed in person at the Box Office.

Q: Will I be able to use the guest passes associated with my membership?

A. Yes. Guest passes will need to be redeemed in person at the Box Office.

Q. Will visitor maps be available?

A. As part of our low-contact operations model, we have created a digital mobile map, designed to be easily viewed on your mobile device. Paper maps will not be available until further notice.

Q: I want to support Fernbank's financial recovery. What is the best way to donate?

A. You can give to Fernbank's COVID-19 Recovery Fund. Your thoughtful support will also help us continue important initiatives, such as afterschool and outdoor programs for underserved communities, care of our live animal collection, special exhibitions, special programming and more, so Fernbank's World of WOW is available for all audiences.
