Celebrate Georgia Archaeology Awareness month with archaeology-themed crafts, activities and special demonstrations. Georgia Archaeology Awareness Month is a state-wide initiative designed to promote public awareness, support learning and encourage preservation of Georgia’s archaeological resources.

Abby the Archaeology Bus
10am – 2pm, Parking Lot
Visit the mobile archaeology exhibition and explore Georgia's past.

Artifacts and Microscopes
10am – 2pm, Great Hall
Take a closer look at pottery, tools and plant remains to learn how archaeologists gather clues about life in the past.

Metal Detecting
10am – 2pm, WildWoods Dig Pit (weather permitting)
Try your hand at locating artifacts using metal detectors.

Primitive Technology Demonstration
10am – 2pm, Terrace (weather permitting)
Enjoy a demonstration of Native American technologies, including flint knapping to make stone tools.

Pottery Making Activity

Take home your own pinch pot or stamped clay.
