On Saturday, October 4, Fernbank Museum’s Board of Trustees will host Polar Lights on a Southern Night: A Timeless Affair 2008,the Museum’s annual black-tie gala, in honor of Dorothy “Wawa” Smith Hines and Richard K. Hines V. More than 400 guests are anticipated to attend this elegant evening of dinner and dancing under the world’s largest dinosaurs. The benefit is planned to raise a half-million dollars to support special exhibitions and films, educational programs and research, scholarships for underserved children, and more.
Event Chairs Dabney and Sam Hollis and Sarah and Scott Goodman are planning the elegant evening to coincide with Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins, Fernbank’s newest special exhibition which explores the uniqueness of the North and South Poles, their inhabitants, and the current science taking place to protect these frozen regions. In keeping with the theme, Tony Brewer will transform Fernbank into an icy palace with glacier-inspired décor, aurora-lit skies and Southern charm—all combining to provide a refreshingly cool way to enjoy an enchanting Southern night in Atlanta.
Polar Lights on a Southern Night will begin with cocktails and light hors d’oeuvres followed by a sumptuous dinner by Affairs to Remember and live music by the Class Act Band, which is sure to get everyone dancing After dinner, guests are invited to view the special exhibition Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins.
A Timeless Affair 2008 promises to be an unforgettable evening, as well as a unique opportunity to support Fernbank Museum. Patron levels begin at $1,500 and tables of ten begin at $12,000.
