Society members at Fernbank Museum of Natural History® provide critical unrestricted support for the Museum’s exceptional educational programming including special exhibitions, archaeological research and IMAX® films. By joining a society at Fernbank, you are showing your commitment to the Museum and to the Atlanta community.
The Fernbank Society plays a major role in Fernbank’s future by providing the Museum’s most substantial annual support by individuals. Through unrestricted gifts of $10,000 or more, members of the Fernbank Society help Fernbank to measurably advance its mission of inspiring life-long learning of natural history through dynamic programming. The Fernbank Society is vital to the Museum’s success and its ability to provide outstanding educational programs to nearly a half-million visitors each year. Fernbank Society members receive all benefits listed for Conservation Society and:
- Unlimited access to the Museum and IMAX® Theatre for you, your family and guests
- Invitations for eight to exclusive IMAX® previews and exhibition openings
- VIP behind-the-scenes tours of exhibitions under development, special collections as well as field research and laboratory projects
- Exclusive access to staff, curators and guest scientists
- 10% discount on facility rental
The Conservation Society advances Fernbank’s mission through unrestricted gifts of $5,000 to $9,999 annually. The Conservation Society name is drawn from the legacy of Fernbank’s founders who led the effort to preserve Fernbank Forest as a school in the woods for nature study, which today is realized through Fernbank Museum.
Conservation Society members receive all benefits listed for Discovery Society and:
- Unlimited access to the Museum for you, your family and guests
- Six additional invitations to exclusive IMAX® previews and exhibit openings
- Twelve IMAX® passes
- Twelve Museum guests passes
- Invitations to participate in private Fernbank field trip excursions
- 5% discount on facility rental
The Discovery Society also advances Fernbank’s mission through unrestricted gifts of $2,500 to $4,999 annually. The Discovery Society shares Fernbank’s vision that individuals of all ages can more deeply connect to the natural world and humanity through top quality educational programs.
Discovery Society members receive:

- Eight complimentary IMAX® passes
- Eight complimentary Museum guest passes
- Reciprocal membership to more than 540 science and technology museums
