Bug Out Festival
Presented as part of 97 Days (and Ways) to Play
Saturday, September 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Join us for the final Bug Out Festival of the summer. Enjoy insect encounters, performances, games and more. Free small lizard toy for the first 200 children. Learn more!

Boy Scout Archaeology Merit Badge Program
Select Saturdays, September 18 and October 23 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Attention Boy Scouts interested in working on their Archaeology Merit Badge! Join a Fernbank Museum archaeologist for a Boy Scout exclusive program. Boy scouts will be led through a simulated excavation and experimental archaeology activity in order to meet the merit badge requirements which call for professional assistance. Bring lunch or money to purchase something from the Café for a 30 minute lunch break. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page for further information.

Water Family Celebration
Sunday, October 10 from Noon to 3 p.m.
Celebrate the arrival of Fernbank’s newest special exhibition, Water: H20=Life, with day of family fun! Guests will enjoy games and giveaways from the B98.5 Street Team, hands-on activities, crafts and more!

Dinosaur Sideshow
Saturday, October 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, October 24 from noon to 3 p.m.
Join us for a special weekend embracing the quirky atmosphere of carnivals and celebrating the world’s long fascination with dinosaurs. Featuring dinosaur illustrators, comic book publishers, sculptors, and authors, Fernbank’s Dinosaur Sideshow reveals the many ways these prehistoric “real-life giants” have captured imaginations and shaped folklore.

Halloween Sleepover
Saturday, October 30, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Creepy, kooky, mysterious…spooky? See for yourself what goes BUMP in the night during a special Halloween event at Fernbank Museum. Participate in fun and eerie activities designed especially for this program—all led by professional Museum staff. Learn more.
Cost: $75 per person for Museum members; $100 per person for non-members; $90 per person for groups of 10 or more.

Ask a Scientist Day
Saturday, November 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Enjoy a special day devoted to science and discovery! Explore the Museum’s exhibitions, enjoy live animal encounters with Fernbank educators and learn more about science careers by participating hands-on activities led by local community scientists and volunteers.

Storytelling with Rob Cleveland
Select Saturdays, September 11, October 9, November 13, January 8, February 12, March 12, April 9 and May 14 at noon
Join us in the Naturalist Center for exciting tales about the natural world with Rob Cleveland, Fernbank’s storyteller-in-residence. This program is suitable for children ages 3 and up.

Weekends in the Naturalist Center
Enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities every weekend in the Naturalist Center. Activities vary from animal encounters to science explorations and more, and will be available every weekend. Check the activity sign when you arrive to see what’s happening.

Children’s Birthday Parties
Host your child’s birthday party with the world’s largest dinosaurs! A variety of birthday packages are available, offering opportunities for live animal encounters and a “birthday throne!”
