Special Photography Exhibition
Now on view through January 2, 2009

Get an up-close look at the varied species of penguins that live and thrive within the pristine wilderness of Antarctica in this photography exhibition featuring a collection of 90 color photographs by J.J. L’Heureux.

L’Heureux traveled to the Antarctic region six times and braved sub-zero weather conditions and numerous photographic challenges to gather photographs of the best known and loved of all Antarctic wildlife—the penguin.

Photographs focus on the contrast of colors and life of this white-on-white environment, which convey the spirit of Antarctica and introduce visitors to a variety of penguins species that can be found there, including Adelie Penguins, Chinstrap Penguins, Emperor Penguins, Gentoo Penguins and King Penguins.

L’Heureux’s photographs create an awareness of the harsh, yet beautiful, landscape in which these penguins make their home and raise their young, making the extreme measures taken to capture the heartwarming images all the more worthwhile and inspiring!

Penguins of the Antarctic: A Photographic Expedition is included with Museum admission and free for members.

Continue your polar exploration with the special exhibition Ends of the Earth: From Polar Bears to Penguins and add the large-format film, Antarctica for more captivating penguin images!
