Important Announcement for Museum Members and Guests
The Children’s Discovery Rooms will permanently close Sunday, May 2, in order for the Museum to begin construction on a bigger, more interactive and all-new children’s exhibition. During construction, we will continue to offer exciting exhibits, films, and hands-on family programs.

Summer highlights include:

  • The special exhibition, Geckos: Tails to Toepads and the IMAX® film Bugs! A Rainforest Adventure both opening May 28;
  • Special activity days Arabian Adventure Weekend (May 15-16), Reptile Day (July 10) and Dinosaur Birthday Bash (August 21);
  • Expanded programming in The Naturalist Center—Activities vary from animal encounters to science explorations and more, and will be available every weekend. Check the activity sign when you arrive to see what’s happening.

Younger visitors embark on a nature expedition as the basic concepts of the natural world come to life in an inviting and imaginative environment.

Fantasy Forest engages 3-to-5 year olds in colorful and playful activities to explain camouflage, pollination and nature. Camouflage "magic vests," Farmer Giggle’s Garden, the Shadow Cave, Habitat Wall and Shady Swamp invite youngsters to learn about their environment and explore basic concepts of nature.

Coca-Cola® Georgia Adventure depicts geographic regions of Georgia in interactive, colorful and imaginative areas, which are presented in a similar format to Fernbank's permanent signature exhibition, A Walk Through Time in Georgia, thus providing a bridge to future discovery. Six-to-9 year olds discover the diversity of Georgia's geography and environment as they fish in the Okefenokee Swamp, dock up at the Jekyll Island Pier, encounter native wildlife at Turkey Mountain and more.
