Auditorium Programs at Fernbank

Enhance your field trip experience with an auditorium program taught by Fernbank Museum educators. Auditorium programs include active discussion, fun visuals, live specimens and artifacts (where appropriate) and last between 40 to 50 minutes. All auditorium programs are correlated to Georgia Performance Standards.

Patterns in Nature
Life Science Show your students a new way to look at nature! Shapes and patterns found in every day life are also found in the natural world—on plants, animals and more. In this interactive program, students will learn to use their fundamental scientific observation skills, meet live animals with patterns to identify and compare and contrast the many amazing patterns in the natural world.

Life Science Take a trip back in time to learn about the amazing animals that roamed the earth long ago. Students gain an understanding of what life on earth looked like before, during and after the reign of the dinosaurs through fun visuals and interactive learning.

Dinosaurs Alive!
Earth Science What do scientists know about the everyday world of dinosaurs? Find out what fossils can tell us about these amazing prehistoric creatures with special emphasis on Fernbank’s giant dinosaurs, found in the permanent exhibition Giants of the Mesozoic. This minds-on program actively engages students using slides, life-sized models and artifacts.

Explosive Earth: Volcanoes & Earthquakes
Earth Science Witness the awesome power of planet Earth and learn what goes on miles beneath the surface. Discover what makes massive slabs of rock move—often with explosive force—and find out how these sometimes destructive events have helped shape our planet. Students learn what drives these geologic events and about the role of plate tectonics through demonstrations, discussion and video.

Human Culture Examine the first human residents of Georgia and learn how these populations met their basic needs, organized society and expanded their sphere of influence. Discover how modern archaeologists piece together bits of information to gain a better understanding of cultures that arose more than 12,000 years ago.
